Hi Pam - saw both your comments - thanks. Yes, my circumstances are better looked at with the glass half full attitude. That being said, owning a home and caring for my family (husband & daughter) has fallen entirely on my shoulders as I've been putting my husband through college for the last 4 years. He graduates in May and then, if he lands a good job, will help take some of the burden of finances off of my shoulders. What I have learned in this little-over-a-year that I have been actively taking a role and 'owning' my financial situation is that its admirable to try to shape your life into something that you want it to be, one step at a time. It doesn't always feel like you are there, but as long as you are making conscious decisions in the right direction, you are making progress.

Well, your aren't as stuck as you think you are !!!!
You at least own your home...You, at least have a "job". You have a job and have creative abilities. You at least have income from two parties, assuming your wife works.
People who are really stuck...have no skills, no job, no home...and no creative ability to create wealth in the future! You are at least creative enough to pursue your dreams; have the aspiration to change your circumstances. You aren't as stuck as a teenage mom with 3 kids and no fathers, and not even a high-school diploma. THAT'S STUCK!
